Introductions and Practice Your Value Proposition
Ask the Expert on the Fundamentals
As part of BRI's introductory sessions, this discussion will focus on providing executives with an overview of current corporate governace issues and some controversial and trending topics in the horizon for participants to prepare to navigate.
Journey to the Boardroom: A Director's Perspective
This session will host LCDA Board members, Director Members, and search firm representatives who will share with board-ready executives some tips on what they need to do to prepare and be successful in their board interviews, in leveraging their networks, and inputting their best foot forward along the various stages of the board search process. This session will also help executives practice for their upcoming BRI mock board interviews, and be better prepared for our networking activities, one-on-one coaching, and mentoring sessions.
Building Your Toolkit: Refining and Communicating Your Value Proposition with Peer Exercise
This session forms the basis for the BRI curriculum series for new LCDA Executive Members. Participants will learn about the importance of developing a board profile (resume and bio) that communicates the value proposition they bring to a board. Developing their elevator pitch and refining it to tell their story is also key to making the case for why their value proposition is an asset to the boardroom.
Opportunities with New IPO and PE-backed Private Companies
This session will explore opportunities to serve on IPO and PE portfolio companies. Hear about efforts by Goldman Sachs and Blackstone to diversify the board and executive ranks of the companies they work with. What is their sourcing strategy and what skill sets are sought after? What is the difference between serving on public versus a private company board? How do you evaluate and find opportunities in this area?
Tips on Excel Along Your Board Interview Journey: Hear from Board Search Professionals
This panel consists of board search professionals sharing behind the scenes tips to help BRI executives successfully interview for board opportunities.
