LCDEF BoardReady Institute (BRI)

The LCDEF‘s premiere BoardReady Institute (BRI) is a comprehensive set of exclusive, programs uniquely designed to prepare and position new and aspiring directors for boardroom success. There is no other programming of this scope focused on accelerating the preparation, development, and placement of highly credentialed, Latinos who are aspiring, new, and board-experienced directors onto the highest levels of corporate governance.

The BRI curriculum's takes a comprehensive approach to educate, prepare and position executives for success. It was originally developed in collaboration with the KPMG Board Leadership Center, the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford Law School, Boardspan, and LCDA‘s search firm strategic partners - like Egon Zehnder, Heidrick & Struggles, Diversified Search - to assist candidates on their journey to and in the boardroom. Since then, our list of curriculum partners has grown to include UC Hastings' Center for Business Law, Equilar, Diligent, Spencer Stewart, Goldman Sachs, Carlyle, Above Board and many others.

Our program offerings have also expanded. The BRI offers LCDA members two concurrent program tracks: the core BRI and the next-level BRINext:

The BRI Core program is designed to prepare executives to begin their journey to the boardroom and be best positioned to serve as a vetted talent pool for corporate board service. The program is targeted at new Executive Members who have not completed board-ready programming or directors who are serving on their first private board (less than 2 years).
BRINext is next level programming designed to take executives on a deeper dive into corporate governance education with a specific focus on being an effective board director at the committee level. This program is targeted at first-time directors (less than 5 years) and Executive Members who completed BRI Core programming in previous year(s) or other board-readiness program through other sources.

Both programs, the core BRI and BRINext are supported by faculty and seasoned directors committed to their success and leveraging the knowledge and resources of their institutions to enhance of their learning and journey to and in the boardroom. Participants of the BRI Core or BRINext must be members of LCDA. To join LCDA and learn more, click HERE. For more information on the Spring or Fall BRI programming, contact Lisa Hodges at

Note: The process to get on a publicly traded or private company board can be lengthy and takes time and engagement on the part of the executive. The BRI does not guarantee a board seat, but it does provide executives with strategic advantages and LCDA and its foundation will remain committed to their boardroom success years after completion of the program.
